Although this was obviously the writer’s first published work, the story grabbed me and wouldn’t let me stop reading. I missed 3 hours of sleep the first night that I was reading it, and 2 hours the second night while I finished it! The occasional grammatical and spelling errors, while distracting, couldn’t stop me from needing to find out what was going to happen in the next chapter. This was a very entertaining read! I hope the author is going to continue Calliope’s story in future novels! If you enjoy fantasy novels with vivid descriptions of armor, weapons, and battle, as well as good character interaction, you should read this one!!

I really liked reading this book because it started with fast action right away. This novel never left me waiting for the action to pick up. It has the elements of a fantasy novel with out the extensive use of magic. The story has some campy good fun and it’s serious side too. This is this first fantasy I have ever read that gave a good explanation for the wearing of a chain mail bikini with out the word bikini or even dwelling on the fact. Exciting and funny with its serious side too I give this a five star!

The characters in the book are easy to follow and yet evolve throughout the book. You are able to get a sense of how these people really are. The action and the mysteries of the book really kept me reading. The details of the plot are revealed slowly so it keeps you going and it does all make sense in this world the writer has created. Can’t wait to see more from this writer!
